The tanning device has a light transparent bed (24) and lamps (18,20) arranged above and beneath the bed. The lamps are mounted on or in at least one ring (10-16) surrounding the bed and the ring and bed can be moved axially with respect to each other. At least one ring is stationary and at least one ring can be moved with respect to the bed.
