An electric lid-closing device for use with a car's trunk lid which serves to close a trunk of the car has: a lock unit which is mounted on the trunk lid and has a locking plate plus a door striker, the latter being able to lock the locking plate in a locking position; an electric locking unit which is mounted on an opening section of the trunk and has a movable contact which can be brought into engagement with the locking plate, plus an electrical drive mechanism to move the contact between an uppermost position and a lowermost position by electrical energy. The lid closing mechanism has a first position sensor (80) which establishes whether the movable contact takes up the uppermost or the lowermost position; a second position sensor which establishes whether the trunk lid is going past a critical position, the critical position corresponding to a position of the contact which lies above the uppermost position; a third position sensor (90) which establishes whether the door striker is locking the locking plate or not; and a control unit which supplies the electric lock unit with energy in order then to pull the trunk lid down into a fully closed position when the first position sensor establishes that the trunk lid has gone past the critical position and the third position sensor establishes the locking of the locking plate by the door striker.
