A coder (29) carried on a ring (27) is fixed to the inner surface of the outer moving ring (7) of one of the ball bearings (5) and is adjacent to a sensor (30) mounted on the fixed axle (16). The sensor (30) communicates with the rider via an emitter (33) mounted at one end of the axle (16).
