PURPOSE: To provide welding equipment of plasma arc transition type where the connection of a base metal cable to a work is dispensed with, and the welding quality is stabilized by providing conductive objective contacts fitted to a torch body, and an arc power supply between a discharge electrode and the conductive objective contact. ;CONSTITUTION: Objective contacts 30a, 30b to be supported by a torch body 1 are conductive, and electrically connected to one pole of a main arc power supply. The main arc power supply is electrically connected to a work 2 by pressing the objective contacts 30a, 30b against the work 2 by an operator toward the part to be welded of the work 2 with the torch in the welding position so as to be brought into contact therewith. When the welding is started in this condition, the welding of the plasma arc transition type is realized. The work 2 is connected to the main arc power supply in the vicinity of a tip through the objective contacts 30a, 30b, and attenuation of the power supply or the heat loss is small. The base metal cable need not be attached/detached, and the working efficiency is improved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
