PURPOSE: To safely mass-produce a nitrogen-containing titanium alloy ingot by a vacuum arc melting method. ;CONSTITUTION: A consumable electrode for production of a nitrogen-containing titanium alloy ingot, prepared by welding plural sponge titanium compacts containing mixtures of TiN powder and sponge fines, or the consumable electrode in which the grain size of TiN powder and the grain size of sponge fines are regulated to 0.5-10μm and 20μm-2mm, respectively, or the consumable electrode, prepared by surrounding the mixtures of TiN powder and sponge fines by titanium sheet or nonmetallic sheet, is formed.
