PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rust preventive composition suitable for a primary rust prevention treatment which shows a corrosion resistance comparable to that obtained by a chromate treatment and yet causes no health or sanitation problem such as carcinogenicity, etc., and yields a black-colored surface when applied onto metals, and a rust prevention process using this composition.;SOLUTION: The rust preventive composition comprises an epoxy resin, a hardener, an aromatic amine condensation product and at least one selected from a silicate compound and a polyvinyl butyral resin. In the rust prevention process for zinc or a zinc alloy, a phosphate film is formed on the surface of a substrate comprising zinc or the zinc alloy, and a coated film of the composition is formed on the phosphate film.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
