PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction damper for base isolation capable of preventing overturning of a base isolation object even if excessive horizontal vibration is generated. ;SOLUTION: This friction damper for base isolation is provided with a lower face plate 14 fixed to a foundation, an upper face plate 20 movably arranged in parallel to the lower face plate 14 by separating a distance above the lower face plate 14, a friction plate 27 being fixed to one of opposed surfaces of the lower face plate 14 and the upper face plate 20 and having the outer peripheral part vicinity bent so as to gradually approach the other of the opposed surfaces of the lower face plate 14 and the upper face plate 20 and a friction material 23 pressed to the friction plate 27 by being installed in the other of the opposed surfaces of the lower face plate 14 and the upper face plate 20.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
