PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably preserve radioactive iodine, i.e., radioactive waste, over a very long period. ;SOLUTION: A method for processing wastes including radioactive iodine comprises adding a vitrifying agent to the wastes containing radioactive iodine to form a mixture, then heating the mixture to form the radioactive iodine into a homogeneous vitrification body, and confining the residual wastes that are not in the form of solid solution into the vitrification body.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
