PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retrieve a similar sentence to an inputted sentence by finding optimal word correspondence between the inputted sentence and candidate sentences and calculating similarity between the inputted sentence and the candidate sentence based on the optimal word correspondence.;SOLUTION: A similarity calculating part 3 calculates the similarity on which a fact that the more, corresponding sentence exist between the inputted sentence and the candidate sentence, the more, the inputted sentence is similar to the candidate sentence and a fact that the more, continuous words are made to correspond between the inputted sentence and the candidate sentence, the more, the inputted sentence is similar to the candidate sentence are reflected. A similar sentence retrieving part 4 selects the candidate sentence with the highest similarity among the calculated similarities as a similar sentence. An inspection result output part 5 outputs the similar sentence, its similarity and word correspondence information between the inputted sentence and the similar sentence.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
