PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the treatment of even a waste material having small temperature difference between the decomposition initiation temperature of organic material and the softening point of glass by providing plural burners for forming combustion flames to heat and melt a glass raw material and supplying waste glass fiber coated with an organic material to at least one of the burners in a state dispersed in a combustion-supporting carrier gas. SOLUTION: The melting chamber 2 of a glass melting furnace 1 is provided with 6 burners 3a-3f. In the above burners, the burner 3b placed at the side close to the raw material charging part 4 is provided with a means 5 for supplying a waste glass fiber. The recycling apparatus is further provided with a hopper 32 for storing waste glass fiber cut to proper size and a constant-rate discharging apparatus 33 to discharge the waste material at a constant rate. There is no particular restriction on the fuel and the combustion-supporting gas to be supplied to the waste material accepting burner 3b and the fuel and an oxygen-containing gas similar to those supplied to the glass melting burner can be used in this case. Various gases are usable as the carrier gas and a part of the combustion-supporting gas is preferably used for the purpose.
