RAILROAD SWITCH STAND HAVING IMPROVED HANDLE MEANS

There is provided a switch stand for operating a railroad switch between twopositions, the switch stand including a connecting rod, operating means forcausingreciprocation of the connecting rod and handle means connected with theoperatingmeans for pivotal movement about a pivot axis between two operating positions,thehandle means having an inner end adjacent the pivot axis and an outer endremotefrom the pivot axis, the inner end including a stub portion and a pair ofsteel portionsconnected to the stub portion and extending away from the pivot axis so as todivergefrom one another. The present invention allows the operator to throw theswitch withgreater ease and under safer conditions since the handle is lighter in weightand itsshape is such that it includes a portion extending upwardly a substantialdistanceabove the ground to minimize the amount of bending required to grasp thehandle.
