A material for a shadow mask for a color image receiving tube, characterized as comprising a low carbon alloy steel plate which contains 0.0001 to 0.03 wt % of C, 0.05 to 0.5 wt % of Mn and 0.001 to 1.0 wt % of Al, and in addition to the above at least one of 0.0001 to 0.01 wt % of O and 0.0001 to 0.02 wt % of N; a shadow mask, characterized in that when it is incorporated in a color image receiving tube and thereafter is held at 450°C for 60 minutes under a load stress of 20 kgf/mm2, it exhibits an elongation of 0.6 % or less; and an image receiving tube having the shadow mask incorporated therein. The material for a shadow mask is excellent in tensile strength and high temperature creep strength.
