METHOD FOR PROCESSING HANDOFF IN DORMANT STATE OF SWITCHING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for processing handoff in a dormant state of a switching system is provided to perform a handoff processing relating to a call reset request of a subscriber, when the subscriber moves to other area in a dormant state while packet data is transmitted, so as to supply continuity of packet data transmissions. CONSTITUTION: If a subscriber moves to other area in a dormant state, a switching system receives an idle handoff to perform a location registration of the subscriber in an idle table, and reads call-related information from a VLR(Visitor Location Register) of an anchor exchange through an HLR(Home Location Register). The switching system stores the read call-related information in the idle table(S1). If a call reset request is received from an IWF(InterWorking Function) or a subscriber terminal after the idle handoff processing, the switching system retrieves the anchor exchange and a target exchange by using the idle table, and performs a routing. The switching system exchanges a MAP(Mobile Application Protocol) message between the anchor exchange and the target exchange through the routing, and sets up a trunk call between the two exchanges(S2). If a cancellation request relating to the set trunk call is received, the switching system cancels the trunk call by using a call cancellation message between the two exchanges(S3). The call cancellation message uses the MAP message.
