METHOD FOR ASSIGNING ELAN USING ELAN NAME IN LANE

PURPOSE: A method for assigning an ELAN(Emulated LAN name) using an ELAN name in LANE(Local Area Network Emulation) is provided to allocate an ELAN using an associated ELAN name, without the necessity of separately managing the ATM address of each LEC(LE client), by making an LECS(LE Configuration Server) analyze a configuration request message transmitted from an LEC and assigning an ELAN requested from the LEC according to an ELAN name comprised in the message. CONSTITUTION: A LANE server transmits an ELAN name and LES/BUS ATM address information to an LECS. The LECS recognizes information on an ELAN NAME for the presently configured ELAN. A relevant LEC executes a basic configuration with the ELAN name and its own ATM address. At this moment, the LEC transmits a configuration request message(CFG_REQ), including a desired ELAN name, to the LECS in order to register for a specific ELAN. The LECS analyzes the ELAN name carried with the configuration request message(CFG_REQ) and withdraws ELAN information corresponding to the ELAN name from previously configured ELAN information. Then the LECS carries a configuration request response message(CFG_RSP) with withdrawn ELAN information to the LEC. The LEC executes LAN emulation using ELAN information comprised in the configuration request response message(CFG_RSP).
