PURPOSE: A method for minimizing the number of overlay VCC connections in an ELAN or LIS for providing an expansion in a MPOA network is provided to implement an expansion of a network in a MPOA network formed of a plurality of emulated LAN(ELAN) and a logic internet protocol segment(LIS) network. CONSTITUTION: When an inlet MPC(67) communicates with an outlet MPC(68), the inlet MPC(67) requests an address interpretation of the outlet MPC(68) to the inlet MPS(63). The inlet MPS(63) checks itself cache(70) before outputting an address interpretation message to the outlet MPS(64). The inlet MPC(67) receives a response from the inlet MPS(63) and sets a connection with the inlet MPC(68) in accordance with an address of a destination and outputs an information through a corresponding connection. When the inlet MPC(67) communicates with the outlet MPC(69), the inlet MPC(67) transmits an address interpretation request to the inlet MPS(63) for asking the address of the outlet MPC(69). The inlet MPS(63) receives the message and checks its cache(70) and transmits an address interpretation request message to the outlet MPS(64). The outlet MPS(64) receives the address interpretation request message and transmits the cache validation request message to the outlet MPC(69) in the same manner.
