The present invention relates to a fastener assembly comprising a row of fasteners held in place by a carrier. The carrier includes dozens of adjacent sleeves, each of which includes an upper brittle portion, a middle wall portion and a lower brittle portion. As the fasteners dig into the workpiece, the upper and middle portions of the fastener sleeves are broken off and the lower portions are broken, so that the remaining sleeve portions remain at all in the fasteners. This is achieved by forming a carrier from a mixture of particulate filler and a hard polyolefin material to give the sleeve the necessary brittleness. The multiple sleeves include two end sleeves. The one or more end sleeves include a magazine holder of the fastener drive tool and a lateral end extension of the lower brittle portion to help balance and stabilize the fastener assembly in the sheer block.
