The electro-optic liquid crystal cells are formed from two exterior substrates (4,8) and an interior substrate (6) fitted between these exterior substrates. The electro-optic liquid crystal cells are formed from two exterior substrates (4,8) and an interior substrate (6) fitted between these exterior substrates. The substrates are held together by outer frames and thus define cavities filled with liquid crystal material. Electrodes are formed on each substrate surface which faces an opposing substrate surface. The substrates are made from transparent material. Zones of reduced thickness are provided between the individual cells in order to allow the separation of the assembly into individual cells after manufacture by scoring and breaking along the exterior surfaces of these zones.
