A supported catalyst for olefin polymerization comprises a copolymer support, a metallocene complex and a metallocenium ion forming compound. A supported catalyst (I) for olefin polymerization comprises: (A) a support comprising a copolymer containing (A1) monomer units of formula R1C(R2)H=CH2 (I), (A2) monomer units of formula (II) and (A3) monomer units having polar groups; (B) a metallocene complex and (C) a metallocenium ion forming compound. R1 = H, 1-4C alkyl or phenyl; R2 = aryl, optionally substituted, alkyl or alkenyl; A1 = a chemical bond or a phenylene group, optionally substituted; R3-R7 = H, 1-10C alkyl or phenyl, optionally substituted; and p = 0-8. Independent claims are included for: (i) a process for the production of the catalyst (I) by solution polymerization of the monomer units (A1), (A2) and (A3) to form a copolymer solution followed by addition of (B) and (C); (ii) a process for the polymerization of olefins in the presence of the catalyst (I); and (iii) the copolymer support (A).
