The instrument has a tubular shaft (2) containing a guide (3) for U-shaped clips (4) which are dispensed by a slider (5). The free U-arms are placed in front with a slit-shaped dispenser opening (9) at the inner end of the shaft. The outer end of the shaft has operating elements for the slider. The inner shaft end has tong-like gripper elements (13) to one side of the dispenser opening. The inner end of the shaft has an end section (14) angled to one side by preferably 25 to 40 degrees.
