The input signal is up-converted to an intermediate frequency (IF) signal, amplified and up-converted again to a high frequency output signal. The IF signal is divided into an envelope component (H) and a phase-modulated carrier component (T). The carrier component is up-converted to a high frequency carrier component at the desired output frequency. The high frequency carrier component is filtered. The envelope component is used to modulate the high frequency carrier component. The modulated high frequency carrier component is power-amplified to obtain the amplified high frequency output signal (HFout). An Independent claim is included for a selective amplifier.
