Device with an uncharged functionalized surface of hydrogel comprising organic molecules which can bind amino groups or thio groups

A device (I) comprises an uncharged, functionalized surface of hydrogel with hydroxy groups. The hydroxy groups are reacted with an organic molecule rest (A). (A) can bind at least one organic molecule rest (A) or organic molecule rest (B), which can bind amino or thio groups. The (A) groups react selectively with the hydroxy groups of the hydrogel surface. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) the preparation of (I), comprising: (a) providing a device with a hydrogel surface comprising hydroxy groups; and (b) covalently binding organic molecules to the hydroxy groups of the hydrogel, where the molecules comprise at least one rest (A), which can react with hydroxy groups, and at least one rest (B), which can react with amine or thio groups; and (2) the use of (I) for reacting with a biomolecule comprising at least one amine or thio group.
