The hardtop convertible roof (3) is moved between a closed position covering the passenger compartment and a stowed position, in which it is folded into a storage space, via an automatic setting mechanism (4). This uses a drive rod coupled to a pivot rod (5) for the convertible roof at 2 points on opposite sides of its pivot axis (7), with the maximum setting force delivered at the centre point point between the closed and stowed positions.
