Magnetic treatment of a liquid comprises passing it through a channel (24, 25) which is subjected to a magnetic field. The field in the center of the channel is different from that at its edges and turbulent flow is generated in the liquid during its flow through the channel. An independent claim is included for a device for carrying out the process comprising a central channel surrounded by magnetic coils (12, 17) and a system for generating turbulent flow comprising a partitioning plate (16) with orifices (14) fitted with flow diverting plates (23).
