The seat (1) is built into the seating system (2) of the motor vehicle and can be deployed from it on demand via a mechanism or lowered into it. The mechanism interacts with a drive whose drive signals for demanded displacements are obtained from at least one remote signal source and at least one monitoring arrangement in the vehicle prevents operation of the mechanism on detecting the presence of objects and/or persons in the monitored space.
