The valve has a pair of emptying valves (24,26) connected to first or second system pressure lines and normally biased open by springs, whereby fluid passes through the valves during the force transfer device starting process. The emptying valves are automatically closed as soon as the pressure in the corresponding first and second system pressure lines exceeds the spring bias. Independent claims are also included for the following: a combination of a circuit emptying valve and a hydrostatic force transfer device and a hydrostatic circuit emptying circuit for a hydrostatic force transfer device.
