The procedure for registering a print job in a print-job editing and supply system (JEDS) aims at freeing up, interactively via the user, the full capabilities and potential of the printer, together with more selective control of the print job. The print job communication provokes a suitable driver-type answer, where the suitable answer has a special number of driver-type answers specific to the type of printer technology, and the data representing the print job is then translated (56) into an intermediate representation of the print job, with one or more buffers of non-translated data representing the operating data.
