Selector has lever (14) on pivot (P) attached to spoke of steering wheel (10). Its free end carries head (24) for operation by finger resting on steering wheel rim (12). To select gear ratio, lever is rotated parallel to plane of steering wheel. Lever is tilted (B) perpendicular to steering wheel to move it away from lock position. Plane of circular path (C) is slightly parallel to plane of steering wheel rim.
