PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for refilling a liquid whereby the liquid can be refilled from a refill tank to an ink storage chamber in a short time smoothly without constraint conditions of a positional relation between the refill tank and the ink storage chamber, etc.;SOLUTION: There are set a first route for moving the ink (liquid) from the refill tank (refill container) 5 to a negative pressure generation member storage chamber (second chamber) 16, a second route for moving the ink and a gas from the negative pressure generation member storage chamber 16 to the refill tank 5, a pump (first means)0 30 for forcibly moving the liquid in the first route, and a negative pressure generation member (second means) 15 for forcibly moving the ink and the gas in the second route. Amounts of the movement of the ink and the gas by the pump 30 and the negative pressure generation member 15 are made equal to each other, and moreover, the ink and the gas are prevented from moving except at the pump 30 and the negative pressure generation member 15.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
