PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting method and connecting device which are capable of surely preventing an adhesion and fusion defects even if connected parts are exposed into an atmospheric environment.;SOLUTION: In the connecting method for the impervious sheets for superposing two sheets of the waterstop sheets consisting of high-polymer materials and connecting both, the front layer parts of one or both of the waterstop sheets at the point to be joined are removed by a polishing tool composed of a soft material in at least the segment abutting the waterstop sheets or a means for spraying the granular materials of resins and, thereafter, the waterstop sheets are joined to each other. The joining device for the waterstop sheets consists of the polishing tool or spraying means described above, a means for injecting hot air to the point for joining the waterstop sheets to each other and rollers rotating while pressing the connecting point and is arranged with the polishing tool or the spraying means, the means for injecting the hot air and the rollers respectively in this order from the front of the moving direction of the joining device. 1A, 1B... the waterstop sheet, 2A... the polishing tool, 3... the means for injecting the hot air, 4A, 4B... the rollers.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
