PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operational element device for enabling comfortable control of the longitudinal motion and the traverse motion of a vehicle in relation to a driver. ;SOLUTION: An operational element device for controlling the longitudinal motion and the traverse motion of an automobile is provided with an operational element 1 fixedly provided in the vehicle longitudinal direction and capable of being operated by the hand, and the vehicle longitudinal motion is controlled by the operational element 1 in connection with operating force to be applied to the operational element 1 in the vehicle longitudinal direction. The operational element 1 is useful for control of the vehicle traverse motion and so provided as to be moved in the vehicle lateral direction, and the vehicle traverse motion is controlled in connection with the lateral deflection of the operational element 1 or operating force to be applied to the vehicle traverse direction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
