PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically select a device of an audio output destination, depending on the surrounding environment in which a portable audio reproduction device is used. SOLUTION: An environmental information recognition section 11 of the portable audio reproduction device recognizes an environment around a user. An output device selection section 12 is provided with a table, denoting environmental information and an audio output device, corresponding to the information and selectively and automatically decides an audio output device, such as a headphone and a loudspeaker by refering to the table on the basis of the information recognized by the environmental information recognition section 11. A wireless section 13 establishes connection to the audio output device selected by the output device selection section 12 and allows an antenna 15 to wirelessly transmit audio data generated by an audio data generating section 14 to the audio output device. A wireless section of the audio output device receives the audio data transmitted from the wireless section 13 of the portable audio reproduction device and analyzes the audio data for driving the audio output section.
