PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nucleic acid sequence encoding the allergenic proteins in the pollen of Lolium perenne. SOLUTION: This nucleic acid sequence encoding Lol pIa and Lol pIb as the allergenic proteins in the pollen of Lolium perenne, respective methods for producing purified Lol pIa and Lol pIb proteins and fragments thereof and recombinant Lol pIa and Lol pIb or at least one fragment thereof or derivative thereof or homologue thereof, and the respective nucleic acid sequences thereof, related proteins, and respective methods for using the proteins, are provided.
