The present invention relates to the isolation, identification and characterization of nucleotide sequences encoding an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of phospholipid fatty acids to diacylglycerol in the biosynthetic pathway for the production of triacylglycerol, to said enzymes, and to a process for the production of triacylglycerols.
