The present invention relates to a shelving system, preferably intended for mounting on a wall, which shelving system comprises an elongate rail (1) adapted to support a number of shelves (5). The shelving system further comprises a first stop member arranged in a first position on the rail (1), and a second stop member (6) arranged in a second position on the rail (1). In the rail (1) a number of shelf elements (4, 5) are arranged, which are adapted to movingly engage with the rail (1) between the first and the second stop member (6). A clamping device (7) applies a clamping force in the longitudinal direction of the rail (1), via the shelf elements (4, 5), so that the shelf elements (4, 5) are kept together. The first and the second stop member (6) act as abutments for the clamping force. The invention also concerns a method for assembling a shelving system as well as a kit of parts for mounting a shelving system.
