The application sequence of the picture contents (B3,B5,B1,B2,B4) is sorted out by the data processor (DV). A printing form production device (DE) available on the printing machine transcribes the one printing form (D3) into another (D5), the latter printing form (D5) into another (D1), the latter printing form (D1) into another (D2), and the latter printing form into another (D4). This process requires the lowest number of work stages and time involvement. By a picture component comparison of the picture contents (B1-B5) corresponding to the initial sequence of the individual print applications it is determined that the necessary transcription processes beginning with the one printing form (D3) corresponding to the picture content (D3) present the best starting situation for the subsequent print application.
