A METHOD IS EXPOSED TO NEUTRALIZE HIV-1. A PREFERRED INCORPORATION USES A MONOCLONAL HUMAN ANTIBODY THAT JOINS A PRESERVED REGION OF THE TRANSMEMBRAN SUBUNITY GP41 OF THE VIRUS. THIS ANTIBODY IS PRODUCED THROUGH CONTINUOUS LINES OF DEVELOPED CELLS USING HUMAN LYMPHOCY CELLS B COLLECTED BY A PATIENT WHO HAS HIGH CONCENTRATIONS OF ANTIHIV ANTIBODIES. THE UNITED PRESERVED REGION THROUGH THE NEUTRALIZING ANTIBODY IS A PEPTIDE OF APPROXIMATELY 12 AMINO ACIDS OF LENGTH AND PREFERIBLY 8-10 AMINO ACIDS. SIMILAR REGIONS IN HIV-2 AND SIV ARE ALSO EXPOSED. THE PRESENT INVENTION IS ADDRESSED IN ADDITION TO A TEAM AND A METHOD TO DETECT THE PRESENCE AND DETERMINE THE CONCENTRATION OF AN ANTIBODY INHIBITING THE EPITOPE ASSOCIATED WITH THE FUSION OF HIV-1, A PEPTIDE IN GP41 WITH THE AMINOTIDE SEQUENCE REPRESENTED BY MEANS. THE METHOD OF DETECTION AND QUANTIFICATION INCLUDES AN IMMUNOABSORBALLY ENZYMED TEST TO ENZYME (ELISA). THE DETERMINATION OF THE CONCENTRATION OF THE ANTIBODY INHIBITING THE EPITOPE ASSOCIATED WITH THE FUSION OF HIV-1 IN GP41, PRESENT IN BODY FLUIDS OF A SEROPOSITIVE PATIENT FOR HIV-1 ANTIBODIES, PROVIDES TO THE PHYSICIAN AN OBJECTIVE MEANS TO FORM A CASE AND HELPS THE CLINICAL DOCTOR DETERMINE THE CONVENIENCE OF INITIATING MEDICAL INTERVENTION OR CHANGING THERAPY.
