The invention relates to a method and a device for drying liquid to damp substances which have already been subjected to dehydration, by convection drying with a heated gas. The finely dispersed substance particles are passed through a drier on a transportation means and are subjected to different temperatures in a two-stage drying process. The hot air from the first stage is saturated with moisture. Once this moisture has been separated, said air is introduced into the second stage of the drying process and its temperature is adjusted to 30 % - 100 % of the temperature of the first stage. The drier has two superposed gas-permeable belts to this end. The inner drying chamber has two drying areas. A first circulating belt extends over both areas and a second circulating belt extends over the second area only.
