The present invention discloses a novel polypeptide- human protein 9 which contains a P5CR characteristic sequence fragment and a polynucleotide encoding the same, as well as a method of producing the polypeptide by DNA recombinant technique. The present invention also discloses methods of using the polypeptide in treatment of various disease, such as glutamate metabolic disorder, disease of connective tissue, various tumour, developmental disturbance, inflammation, immunological disease, HIV infection and so on. The present invention also discloses an antagonist against the polypeptide and the therapeutic use of the same. Also disclosed is the use of such novel polynucleotide encoding human protein 9 which contains a P5CR characteristic sequence fragment.
