PURPOSE: An alternating current driving plasma device for an electric signboard and its manufacturing method are provided to simplify manufacture process, reduce manufacture cost, and enhance device life time and driving voltage. CONSTITUTION: An alternating current driving plasma device for an electric signboard comprises a front glass substrate(1), a transparent electrode(2), a transparent dielectric material(3), a protection film(4), a discharge cell(11), fluorescent material(9A,9B,9C), a rear glass substrate(5) and metal electrode(6). The transparent electrode(2) is formed on the front glass substrate(1) by photo-etching, sandblast, or molding. The transparent dielectric material(3) is formed on the transparent electrode(2) by thin film printing of dielectric paste and, then, the protection film(4) is formed by vacuum deposition. The metal electrode(6) is formed on the rear glass substrate(5) by photo-etching, sandblast, or vacuum deposition. Glass partitions(13) are formed on the opposite side of the rear glass substrate(5) from the metal electrode(6) by making grooves(5a) by sandblast, photo-etching or molding. The red, green and blue fluorescent material(9A,9B,9C) are applied between the glass partition walls(13) by thin film printing or spray.
