FIELD: nuclear power engineering; nuclear reactor control and protection systems. SUBSTANCE: control element has sections with neutron-absorbing material installed on hanger in channel being cooled. Sections are free to displace along this channel. Control element is also provided with its braking facility and sleeve. The latter has individual channels equally spaced from its longitudinal axis. These channels accommodate neutron absorbing sections. Each such section is joined with hanger. Control element braking facility is made in the form of disk disposed within hanger space. Taper rod is fitted in its hole and in case of hanger drop it engages the support mounted in bottom part of sleeve, and rod provides for plastic deformation of disk with the result that control element can be driven throughout entire depth of core. EFFECT: reduced load on drive, enhanced speed of control rod emergency insertion in core, reduced failure probability of control element in case of its dropping. 7 cl, 2 dwg
