The system has at least one bearer frame (2) arranged above the object in which several lights (3a,3b,..) are mounted in parallel rows (4a) of lights. The lights can be controlled separately as light rows and can be adjusted in intensity while maintaining their wavelength spectrum (mechanical dimming). The rows of lights can be pivoted with respect to the frame. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of illuminating an object while simulating parallel incident light beams.
