Method for monitoring the operation of a device, operated by an operator, has the following steps: determination of a unique identifier for a given operator; determination of a unique identifier for the operated device; determination of a start time for operation of the device; during operation of the device, recording of monitoring information and; storage of the recorded information. An Independent claim is made for a system for implementing the method comprising a chip card read-write device with a chip card identifying each operator and a chip card associated with each device.
