Determining the loading volume of a laundry dryer comprises moving the washing in the drum (1) and determining the electric conductance of the washing by means of electrodes. The electrodes (12) touch the washing at least intermittently and the measuring signal of the conductance features impulses, the frequency of which is determined and used as a measure for the loading volume.
