The production metho involves conveying printed sheets (2) along a conveyor track and collated into inner books by feeders (1). The feeders possess controlled pick-up pieces (4) formed by an implement (20) deforming or damaging the printed sheets in their folded area. The pick-up pieces consists of two pincer parts (6,7) at least one of which forms the perforating, punching or mortising implement.
