PURPOSE: To correctly diagnose whether an evaporation purge system is at fault or not. ;CONSTITUTION: A canister 10 absorbing evaporation fuel from an engine fuel tank 11 and a purge passage 14 connecting the canister 10 to an engine intake passage 2 through a purge control valve 15 are provided. In a control circuit 20, pressure in the canister 10 in a condition in which the purge control valve 15 is closed and pressure in the canister 10 is stabilized is detected by a pressure sensor 30. In the case where a deviation between pressure and atmospheric pressure is a prescribed value or more, it is judged that abnormal state such as leakage is not generated in the canister 10.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
