The agricultural tractor comprises a chassis (2) with a single high U-shaped structure (4) which links together to two sections. Each section includes a main wheel (5) mounted on the lower part (4a) of the structure, so that the tractor is able to pass over a row of standing plants, the wheels passing along two adjacent corridors between plants. One of the lower branches includes a girder (7) which extends horizontally in a direction parallel to the main wheel direction of travel. At the remote end of this girder a third smaller wheel (8) is mounted to support and steer the vehicle. The engine providing the vehicle drive is mounted on the opposite side to that on which the vehicle driver is seated. The two main wheels are supported via jacks which enable their vertical height to be adjusted.
