New polyurethane foam produced by foaming and hardening a mixture of organic isocyanate, active hydrogen-containing component, surfactant and catalyst. New polyurethane foam is produced by: (a) foaming a mixture of an organic isocyanate with a functionality of 2.0-2.5, an isocyanate-reactive, active hydrogen-containing component with a hydroxyl number of 100-180, a surfactant and a catalyst; and (b) hardening the foamed mixture to produce a foam with density of 324-648 kg/m3, a cell diameter (CD) of 20-60 mu m, a cell opening diameter (COD) of 1-25 mu m, a CD/COD ratio of 3-10 and an intercrosslink molecular weight of 3000-10,000. An Independent claim is also included for a bandage comprising a cushion attached to an open-cell polyurethane foam having a density of 324-648 kg/m3, a CD of 20-60 mu m, a COD of 1-25 mu m, a CD/COD ratio of 3-10.
