Non contact periodic signals are injected in the conducting tracks. The injection signal device consists of two electrodes one of which is electro-magnetically shielded and is used with a sensor composed of electrodes (10,11,12). The detection signal on a conducting track is achieved by capacitive coupling between the track and sensor which includes ate least a shielded electrode and a detection signal electrode (11). A capacitive technique is used. The signal injection electrodes (10) and the signal detection electrodes (12) are integrated in the same sensor which also contains one or more shielded electromagnetic electrodes (11). The injected signals are periodic and are injected into tracks (15) to be controlled without being in contact with them. The detection signal is achieved by capacitive coupling between a track and the electrode connected to an electronic detection circuit. The electromagnetic electrodes are connected to earth and the sensor displaced relative to the network being controlled.
