Recording several information signals on magnetic tape - using parallel recording tracks with tracks for periodic reference signal

A number of electrical information signals are magnetically recorded in parallel recording tracks, provided along a magnetic tape, with a periodic reference signal simultaneously recorded in at least two reference tracks, spaced from one another and running parallel to the recording tracks. When the magnetic tape is played back, the phase difference between the signals obtained from the two reference tracks represents the amplitude of the oblique disparity or slip between the signals obtained from the different recording tracks. Pref. a control signal is obtained from the phase difference between the two periodic reference signals used to delay each of the signals obtained from the recording tracks in accordance with the amplitude of the control signal and the position of the recording track relative to the two reference tracks.
