PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deformation in a connection part between a shadow mask and a frame, by constituting the shadow mask and the frame by a material having a different coefficient of thermal expansion. ;SOLUTION: This color picture tube 8 includes a vacuum glass-made envelope 10 having a rectangular face plate panel 12. The panel includes a shadow mask assembly unit 30 provided in the inside of the panel. The shadow mask assembly unit included a shadow mask 24 formed by a first metal having a first thermal expansion coefficient and a frame 32 formed by a second metal, having a second thermal expansion coefficient. The first thermal expansion coefficient is substantially lower than the second thermal expansion coefficient. The tube comprises the shadow mask connected to the frame by a plurality of bimetal elements 46, and each element has a first end part 48 fixed to the frame and a second end part 50 fixed to the mask. Each bimetal element is formed by a material in size in accordance with thermal expansion of the frame.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
